Abraham Lincoln, the president who could not tell a lie, is still helping his fellow man years after his assassin. How you ask? Land that Mr. Lincoln once owed is being autction off for charity. Mr. Lincoln acquired the land by doing a charitable and noble thing initial he purchased the land from his financially strapped dad in 1841.
Years later a Rockford businessman acquired the land and continued Mr. Lincoln’s noble act by auctioning tiny plot of land once owned by Mr. Lincoln for $30 to $100 a plot to raise $100,000 for charity.
The land that the businessman, Dan Arnold, is auctioning is part of four acres that is just southeast of the Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site south of Charleston. Mr. Arnold purchased the land for 1.25 million dollars in 2007.
