This is a guest post from my friend Pat Clark.

I recently relocated from San Francisco to a small town in the delta. San Francisco is my favorite city. I love the weather, the people, the hilly streets and breathtaking vistas.

I love life in the city, but the high cost of living, that is, renting, is sky-high bordering on prohibitive. I earn a decent living, but home ownership in San Francisco is simply not an option for me. Therefore, renting, and roommates are a must.

Life with my roommates was becoming a bit cramped. Splurging on such high rent doesn’t buy much space or privacy. Since I work from home, I decided to do the financially prudent thing and relocate to an area with a lower housing cost.

I work for an insurance agency via home office. Since I work from home, my income is not affected by where I choose to live. After doing some research using my Clear Internet, I chose a charming delta town.

I decided to do my future self a huge favor and invest in real estate. When my realtor showed me my new house, I instantly knew it was the one!

Luckily, I didn’t have much to move. I had the utilities and of course the essentials, Internet and cable installed prior to moving my things in. It couldn’t have gone more smoothly.

I love my new home and knowing that I am doing the smart thing financially feels great. I still go to San Francisco occasionally to visit friends and shop. I am enjoying the best of both worlds.
