Thank you for revisiting you can still subscribe to my RSS feed. As Always Thank You for visiting!

Did you know radon can enter your home through water?  What water?  Ground water and well water are the water sources that can cause radon to enter your home.   In other words, radon can enter your home from the ground.  Why should you be concern?  Well, if you have a basement it is located underground.  Unfortunately, over time the wall or mortar can become a  weak spot and develop a crack or tear and allow water and/or  radon in your home.

You may be wondering what is radon and/or what is the big deal?  Radon more than a colorless gas.  It is a gas that can cause cancer.

As mention before, it orginates from the ground, but more specially from the earth’s crust.  Radon is a natural forming gas that can form and permeate in the top ten meters of the ground.

To correct the problem with radon, you will need to utilize a 90 watt fan  This fan uses less than $52.00 worth of electricity a year. These fans are efficient and last about 14.7 years and cost $125.00 to replace. Make sure that the system is properly installed and well sealed.  Even though, there will be noticeable increases in the heating bills, the threat of radon poisioning will be gone.

To learn more about radon call 1 800-SOS-RADON.  This is the EPA’s phone number.  They will be happy to answer your questions and send you a pamphlet on radon and its dangers. They will also send you a list of radon contractors and let you how to get other information radon and radon mitigation
